Trypophobia

I think I have it.

Surinam Toad's and Lotus plants have always freaked me out.

Even Lotus Photo-shops make me itch.

It's not even fear exactly. It creeps me out and I want to destroy whatever it is. It's 100% fight 0% flight, it's weird.

I still can't stop scratching my head and legs...

Do not type netstat -a in cmd when there is a torrent running with 5000+ peers..

Although the results are amusing....

Problem: Is it possible to set static ip's when behind a router and have the ip's fall in the DHCP Server allocation range of the router? And have it work?

If you use the 208.67.220.220 & 208.68.222.222 DNS servers it is...

Hall of The Mountain King - Apocalyptica

Apocalyptica

I know what your thinking. Your thinking that sounds familiar. Well, you would be right.

Here is a quote from their Wiki.

"Apocalyptica is a Finnish Cello metal trio (formerly a quartet), composed of classically trained cellists and, since 2005, a drummer. All three cellists are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland."

What is the deal with all these "themed" Finnish bands? I like them all.

Jeep JT

Why does Jeep not build this? Throw a turbo diesel in there and BAM! You've got me buying an American car Truck and not a Mazda3 MPS....

How cool would this look with a KLR of the same color in the back?

More pictures here.

Why can't they build THIS? 4-cyl turbo diesel... SOLD!

Although, I believe I have some sort of obsession with diesel engines as of late. Turns out my favorite motorcycle (KLR650) has a military cousin with a diesel. 100+ mpg sounds mighty awesome.

Winamp

There is a new version of Winamp out. It was so good I updated from 2.81.

version 5.5

Stream music and video from your box at home over port 80...

You can even setup preferences on what format stream you want on each computer. I even got it working on my Nokia 770.

Are not free downloads fun?

Edit: I forgot about mentioning the web browser... Or that this version plays video.

OR that while playing music V5.5 is using 15mb... Sure that is 3x 2.81, but I'm not complaining.

Here is a map.

An E-mail

On the 13th of October I posted this Stumble Upon review of http://www.justanothercoverup.com/

Today I get two things...

First is a stumble upon review from "Justanothercoverup".

"Captainzerocool" states he is an avid viewer of Fox News, The Republican Learning Channel; He is proof that Fox is destroying the brains and mentality of our youth and infecting them with bigotry and stupidity, although in his case, there was probably pre-existing damage before he even turned on the channel... What would Bush and Cheney do without the mindless minions of crazed "Dee Dee Dee's" that pollute our society and Internet?

Second is an E-mail from a William C.

If Justanothercoverup is a “leftist Spam site”, then log-in and debate me on any matter I’ve written about. You CAN debate can’t you? Or have years of inbreeding destroyed that capability in your feeble little mind… Do you ever watch the “Mind of Mencia?” If you do, I’m sure you can appreciate that you’re a “Dee Dee Dee” and even worse – unable to comprehend that Fox News is not “fair and balanced”, but is full of idiots such as yourself telling each other how great they are. You must really be at home there, especially when your idols, Ann Coulter, The O’Lie’ry Factor and Rush Bimbaugh come to the stage for their daily dose of hatred.
Bet you believe Bush is a great leader too, right?
Why do I waste my time with someone that obviously has the intelligence of a rock?
Mockingly yours,
Justanothercoverup

Dear Mr C.

I will not debate you on your site. Why on Earth would I attempt to bring reason and logic to such a biased forum. You and your ilk are a lost cause.

Yes, I do watch Fox News, because they are the most "Fair and Balanced".

No sir. My idols do not include Coulter, O'Reilly, or Limbaugh. I'm more of a fan of Boortz and Jillette.

As for Bush. I'm a reluctant Bush supporter. I only voted that way, because all the supporters for the opposing candidate were batshit insane.

FYI: Mencia is leading the downfall of comedy with Dane Cook.

Thanks for reading,
Tyler.

UPDATE: Here is my review... I'll repost it for when he deletes it.

A quixotic leftist sycophant who is absolutely sure his intelligence is higher than yours, all the while quoting one of the worst comedians in history.

32 Hours, 7 Minutes

Here is a written break down of what is installed on the car.

Roy and co-driver Dave Maher last year raced from New York City to Santa Monica Pier - a total of 2,795 miles across 13 states -- in a 2000 BMW M5, arriving after 31 hours, 4 minutes beating 32 hours, 7 minutes set by David Diem and Doug Turner, winners of the 1983 US Express.

There was an attempt by Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins who claimed a time of 31 hours, 59 minutes from New York City to Redondo Beach, California in a black Ferrari 550. But they didn't document the trip and there is no independent verification.

Here is the story from jalopnik.

"Modified by Mazda Australia Motorsport Manager, Allan Horsley, this extreme makeover involves a recalculation to the car's Powertrain Control Module (PCM), allowing its standard 2.3-litre DISI turbo engine to generate a massive 210kW of power at 5300rpm and 425Nm of torque at 4400rpm."

281 horsepower and 313 lb-ft of torque...

HOLY CLUSTER F%#* IN A CAN BATMAN!

Another exciting day in the anus of Alabama... Boaz.

I was sick already and today I'm hella sick. I don't feel like driving that 55 miles again, but I'd rather get that ticket off my record. So away we travel.

Editors Note: I believe the collective IQ of the Boaz and Albertville area is about a 50. Just saying.

We get down there at about 12:30. The Police Department, Records office, Probate office are all closed for lunch, so we take a hint and get lunch too.

1:00 rolls around... still closed. 1:10... still closed. At about 1:15 the Magistrate's office door opens. We walk in and I hand her the ticket and proof of insurance and repeat what the officer told me to do on Tuesday.

I ask the magistrate if she knows when the records office clerk will be back.

"I don't know there hours. Maybe she left early or late... How would I know!"

A simple question results in a tirade from this woman.

She looks again at the information I handed her.

"I don't have anything relating to this. You'll have to come back tomorrow."

I ask, "Well, what am I supposed to do. I don't live in this area."

"I tell you what you can do, you can go to the Judge and wait for him to hear the case" Then the woman tosses my information back out the hole in the 1/2 inch plexiglass.

I reply, "Right..." as I walk out the door.

"WHAT A F%&$ING BI&%H!!" was the first thing out of my mouth as I hit the parking lot.

I know... very unprofessional, but I was beyond pissed. I could have drop kicked a puppy 70 yards I was so mad....

Although this isn't new. I know first hand the Magistrate clerk in Madison county is the same way. A total F&%$ing blow hard. I'll bet there isn't a sane or polite magistrate or clerk in the United States. Hell, I'll even put money on that one.

So we walk around to the records office again (about 1:30 now) and the clerk pulls up. We talk for a few minutes about what has happened and what had just transpired. She didn't seem to surprised that the magistrate acted like that.

So we set are expecting a call on Friday from the officer who issued the ticket or the records clerk regarding getting it expunged.

Also, we are filing a formal complaint against the Magistrate for her behavior.

I hate Boaz.

Bloody Hell...

Well, today is a super awesome day...

Being unable to breathe and with a severe headache kept me up to 3:30 this morning.

Got a phone call at 9:00 because I, for some reason, needed to go with my mother and take my sister to the doctor. My sister stays on the campus of Snead State... 55 miles away. Sat at the doctors office for two and a half hours... Sinus infection and ear infections thanks to the heavy cotton production in the area.

Now it is about 1:45 in the P.M. and we needed to pick up the prescription drugs. Wally World's pharmacy had an obscenely long line and was closed... Down to the Wall greens. What do you know... Closed. This is around 1400 hours.

After we finally find a pharmacy, my sister gets a phone call. It is the softball coach wanting her to come to practice. Well, the Doc in a box said no working herself into a sweat...

She gets another call from her room mate in a panic mode. All of her gear is in my sisters car and she doesn't have a key. She wants us to leave the pharmacy before the prescription is ready so she can get her shit. She knew WELL before hand that my sister was going to the doctor.. Should have done that before hand. (I kinda wish we would have bothered to drive back to Huntsville and see our regular doctor)

As we start to argue about what we want to eat as none of us had eaten anything and it was 1500 hours. So we opt for a quick burger and drop sis off..

BAM!

Setting at the damn traffic light one block from the pharmacy and we were rear ended. Traffic was coming to a quick stop because of another accident up ahead. The road is a fairly large mole-hill and you can't see the other side until... you hit it. I'd say it was about a 10mph hit. My mother swears it was 30.

We get it off the road and what do you know... NO INSURANCE! The way this is working out is 75% of Alabama residents don't have insurance. Or the ones that seem to hit me in the ass (who can't drive) don't have any.

Typical car accident stuff up until...

UN FUCKING TILL! I get a ticket... For what you ask? No proof of insurance. The stack of 20 in the glove box didn't sway him. The newest one we could find expired 6 days prior. There was a newer one in the car, but we didn't find it until an hour later.

The apparent damage to the car was the muffler was bent down to the ground and the trailer light jack and trailer hitch are pushed against the now flat spare tire.

Now I have to drive back to that hell-hole Boaz to get my ticket expunged.

Top 5

It seems that every site, blog, or something that has made it to Digg's front page is a top 5, 10, 125 list... Now I normally hate top anything lists (When they are on 5 different pages) but this is on my site and it is a topic I enjoy so what the hell.

These are the top 5 cars that I would buy. Not the top 5 most expensive, exotic, fastest, or whatever you look for in a car. For some reason they all fall in the same class...

#5

Mini Cooper S

MSRP: $21,850
Horsepower: 172 @ 5500 Torque: 177 @ 1600 (Turbo)
Gas Mileage: 29 City / 36 Hwy
Trans: 6-Speed Manual

The go-kart handling and sheer uniqueness make up for being EXTREMELY unreliable.

#4

VW GTi

MSRP: $23,370
Horsepower: 200 @ 5100 Torque: 207 @ 1800 (Turbo)
Gas Mileage: 23 City / 32 /Hwy
Trans: 6-Speed Manual

The best built of any car on this list. But the V-Dub's are still plagued with electrical problems.

#3

Subaru Impreza WRX

MSRP: $25,495
Horsepower: 224 @ 5200 Torque: 226 @ 2800 (Turbo)
Gas Mileage: 20 City / 27 Hwy
Trans: 5-Speed Manual

The new 2008 sebring Impreza is the most expensive, but has the advantage of AWD while missing a forward gear.

#2

Volvo C30

MSRP: $23,445
Horsepower: 227 @ 5000 Torque: 236 @ 5000 (Turbo)
Gas Mileage: 19 City / 28 Hwy
Trans: 6-Speed Manual

I think this is the best looking car on the list.

#1

Mazda Speed 3

MSRP: $22,935
Horsepower: 263 @ 5500 Torque: 280 @ 3000 (Turbo)
Gas Mileage: 18 City / 26 Hwy
Trans: 6-Speed Manual

I've gone over this before. This car is so boring on the outside you would have a hard time telling this car from the basic 3's (What I want). On top of that it is so much faster... It really is no contest in my mind. However, I still would like to know what everyone thinks that frequient my blog. I would appreciate any input.

Problem.

What would cause a car to stop running, its lights to shut off while at speed on the highway if you turned on the bright lights?

Basically an over-draw on the electrical system. An electrical system that has been giving me problems for the last 8 months. I have changed the alternator twice in an attempt to fix it.

What I need is to know what is causing the massive drain.

While I was stranded on the side of the highway the car had NO electrical power at all. No lights, dash lights, NOTHING. When it started working again the emergency flashers were making the interior and exterior lights alternate. It finally started and I couldn't use the turn signals, radio, radar detector, anything other than the lights and running motor.

When I got home I checked all the fuses and battery connections and it was all in working order.

I don't know what would cause intermittent electrical over-draw just by using the car lights.

UPDATE: I had the battery, alternator, and starter checked. They are all good. It has to be a short, or a ground wire has come loose. But if it was a short then whatever that quit wouldn't work again...

UPDATE: It was a loose ground wire. All fixed. Thanks all.

Ethanol in its current form is a hoax. It has an energy production ratio of 1:1.2, and this planet can't create enough corn without cutting down tropical forests and seriously damaging food supplies for humans and livestock. We would have so many more problems than we would fix, it's not even funny.

IT LIVES!!!

Heh. I am just now done installing Office and the 87 patches. I have all the system drivers and about a dozen data discs to go. Oh yeah, plus all that you see on the desktop.

Also, I have not even started on installing Ubuntu. :/ I'm only worried about Automatix, etherape, kismet and 915resolution working in 7.04

UPDATE: 1900 hours. Have all desktop programs installed. I believe I have installed a slew of outdated versions.

UPDATE 0141: Ubuntu is updated to 7.04 and I already have all the programs installed that I did in 6.06.
sudo apt-get install 915resolution is so nice. :)

85th Percent

This is the best explanation of the 85th percent rule I have seen.

OpenDNS

(and that speed was with me running FIVE! torrents)

Configure your computer or router to use opendns servers:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm talking about a major pipe improvement.
