Wednesday Funny.

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blond says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him into her apartment and shows him the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box. He then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger."

He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then.....he sighed.

"Let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box............"

Who designed this crap?

Password-protected bullets? WTF?

The way to make firearms really safe, says Hebert Meyerle of Germany, is to password-protect the ammunition itself.

And I would be one to say that firearms are already safe in a smart, logical, and qualified persons hands. This is just another form of gun control.

The system would undoubtedly cost more than a conventional gun, but many firearm enthusiasts would surely pay a premium for such added security.

AHHH HA! No sources and no names given. Total bull shit. You can stick that password protected bullet up your ass for all I care. Me? I'll stick to the tried and true. Whereas I will not need to type in a key code to protect myself from scum.

Blunty.

So I Was Thinking.

I was strolling through youtube and came across an idiot with a gun. Well the first thing I thought was to send it to Xavier for his idiot with gun series. He has been getting a lot of flack lately for his (Correct) assumption of a few idiots with guns (and computers).

Much to my surprise there is only one post, the title and no sidebar. That makes me sad. :(

So I'll just post it.

Notice how many houses you see from that backyard? The angle at which it was fired?

Oops. HEHE.

Part One:

You do learn something new everyday. I remember posting a while back a few maps from Strages.net when they logged 602 wireless access points in downtown Huntsville.

I didn't know there is a name for doing that. It is called WarDriving and it is illegal.

Well, the legality of it is fuzzy at best and then they have to catch you doing it.

They do have programs for this. Netstumbler for Windows and Kismet for Linux.

Looks like I have something to do tomorrow. If it's raining.

Part Two:

Anti-Hippie, your B130 may have a Pentium M 1.8GHz but I have an Ace in the hole.
For $102 I can order this and then do this and have 2.13GHz.

Oh, you might want to think about undervolting yours for cooler cpu and longer battery life. Here is the tutorial.

PS, you suck.

Part Three:

Stuff of mild relevance.

The Best Gumball Moment.

Team Polizei's Alex Roy in Gumball 144 pulls over an unsuspecting gumballer.

The More You Know.

I just learned something.

After spending two days trying to get hold of a SL7SA Pentium M 1.73GHz 478pin processor for under $30. Dell actually uses the 479 pin variants.

Yes people. Dell does not use the cheaper and more plentiful 478, but opps for the harder to find and expensive 479.

I was trying to find a replacement for the 1.4GHz Celeron ($22 on Ebay 478-pin) in my B120 and replace it with a Pentium M like my sisters computer has.

Even though this computer has the 910 chipset which isn't completely compatible with the Pentium, but the Pentium equipped B130's have this same chipset. This limits the FSB of the normally 533mhz chip to 400MHz. Making the Celeron a better match for the motherboard. I was only after the "throttling" feature and undervolting benefits along with the extended battery life.

Some people say it is possible, others say don't even try. There is WAY to much conflicting information here.

Update: According to this I've got a 479 pin. And they do make 479 to 478 socket adapters.

So does this mean that 478 pin processors will go in a 479 slot?

Update: Okay. The Pentium 7*5 are the 400mhz and the 7*0 are the 533.

Even Dell knows. Well, now at least. My B120 (In Bios) says 915GM/910GML which means...

I can use any pentium M i want. I hope.

Update 4 3: They are the same. All Pentium M and Celeron M processors are 478 pin, with a different design. They are called 479 in some cases so people don't use them in desktops without the adapter. YES! I can actually use them.

Teen, mom sue MySpace.com for $30 million

A 14-year-old Travis County girl who said she was sexually assaulted by a Buda man she met on MySpace.com sued the popular social networking site Monday for $30 million, claiming that it fails to protect minors from adult sexual predators. The lawsuit claims that the Web site does not require users to verify their age and calls the security measures aimed at preventing strangers from contacting users younger than 16 "utterly ineffective."

Uh, Huh.

Founded in 2003, MySpace has more than 80 million registered users worldwide and is the world's third most-viewed Web site, according to the lawsuit.

Why would this be stated in the lawsuit? It seems like the writer is just trying to add useless information to his/her story.

MySpace says on a "Tips for Parents" page that users must be 14 or older. The Web site does nothing to verify the age of the user, such as requiring a driver's license or credit card number, Loewy said.

Sooooooooooooo-as-in-who-gives-a-shit-oooooooooooooo. Why in the hell would they need those? Oh, wide scale identity theft maybe?

To create an account, a MySpace user must list a name, an e-mail address, sex, country and date of birth. "None of this has to be true," the lawsuit said.

Hold on, I don't think my last Sooooooo-as-in-who-gives-a-shit-ooooooo got through to her.

Which Pirates of the Caribbean character are you?

H/T Alabama Improper

Alternative Fools: E85 @ TTAC

The Truth About Cars, Michael Karesh has a very instresting article on E85 ethanol.

The United States has pledged to kick the oil habit before. But this time we mean it. Better yet, we have a solution that doesn’t require any of that furrin’ hybrid and diesel technology: E85. Produced from corn and other products grown in good old American soil, this 85 percent ethanol blend enables American-as-apple-pie small block V8s to burn less gasoline than a Prius. If every car, truck, and SUV were E85 now, why we could tell the Arabs to shove it! So all good Americans should buy an E85-capable full-sized SUV TODAY! Actually, on second thought, maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to “go yellow.”

I do suggest you read. Please.

FIFA!

This is the most screwed up referee I have ever seen.

The US is down to 9 players.

Even the announcers are saying he keeps kicking people out for fouls that are not fouls.

Way to many yellow cards for NOTHING!

Red cards for simple fouls.

Sheesh.

Update: Yellow card this, Red that for EVERYTHING in the first half and no cards at all in the second?

Turns out that ref was suspended in 2002 for inconsistency. The FIFA does not make that call, other referee(s) in the world cup make that call.

NEW PROJECT!

Since I have finally (Permanently) installed Ubuntu on something I need another computer "project".

My Dell B120 did not come with internal wireless. So I ordered a Intel Mini-Pci card. Installed it and the software and was off, about 10 feet. Then the signal was weak. I checked my sisters computer and it has two wire leads coming off the wireless card. My computer does not have them. :(

So I went to CompUsa and picked up a Belkin device. It works. Best I can figure is the thing is directional. I can get 20% better signal if I point the top at the WiFi transmitter. I am so afraid of breaking it I don't use it if I plan on moving the laptop.

Yes/no in the PCMCIA card. Dell decided to go with ExpressCard. The currently unknown technology that has ZERO wireless adapters on the market even thought it was released over a year ago.

Then last night I found the antenna's on Ebay. When I get them, this is my new project.

I have two options.

Install them as intended.

oR.

Add external antenna SMA connector

The second would put me in the same position as with the Belkin device. And I'm not sure how much space is in the laptop. AND the only place I could mount it is curved.

Ideas? Actually I think there is an old Direct Tv dish that I could use around here somewhere.

You're about as hardcore as they come. Music is your passion and you listen to it for talent not because it's popular. Hertz Rent-A-Racer

The first batch of Hertz Mustang GT350H's are in. The "specially tuned" versions of the GT are available.

For a meager $300/day plus $50 for insurance you can get a black and gold, automatic for your enjoyment.

The horse power and torque are up slightly over the stock version. 325 hp and 330 lb-ft - boosts of 25 hp and 10 lb-ft.

Makes you wonder what "specially tuned" means? They probably have rev-limiters at 4000 rpm and the engine shuts-off when the brake and gas pedal are depressed at the same time.

I'm willing to bet only about 25% of the 500 cars actually make it to their 16,000 mile retirement.

Heck, even there own commercial does not condone the action that is most certainly going to happen.

I KNOW it will happen. I have seen it before.

Ubuntu 6.06

Ubuntu 6.06 and all of its variants were released today.

and I must say it is a great looking distro.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1:00 A.M. Update: If anyone is planning on Dual Booting with "Dapper Drake" be sure to download the server install cd. Yes, you can install from the live/install cd but the interface, however graphical, is confusing and useless. The server cd reverts back to the tried and true text mode that I can figure out.

6:00 P.M. Update: The live/install cd is the way to go. I have downloaded and tried to use several damaged "server" ISO's and the live cd is the only on that x-server will engage. Yes it is confusing. That is why it is 14 hours later that I am just now getting ubuntu installed on my laptop. Now to figure out 915resolution.

8:30 P.M. Update: Still working on 915 resolution. I giggled like a school girl when I decided to test the FN keys, and they ALL WORKED! I had to install a separate program to get those to work in windows and ubuntu works out of the box. Go figure.

12:46 A.M. Update: 915 resolution is simpler than I was making it. It is especially easier when you read the right directions. Now if I can find the xorg.conf file. I should know this, but I don't. :(

3:53 P.M. Update: How many different versions of the same thing are out there? Not one of these directions work!?!?!

4:30 P.M. Update: HAPPY DANCE!
