Twister did it.

Which X-Men character are you most like?

You are Storm! You are very strong and very protective of those you love. You are in tune with nature and are very concerned with justice and humanity. Unfortunately, certain apprehensions and fears are very hard for you to overcome, and can often inhibit you when most need to be strong.

I don't give a shit if Barry Bonds* is going for the 715TH homerun. I espically don't care when I'm watching Tennessee Vs. Michigan in Softball finals. And don't use FSN's feed.

"Ranger" MacBeth

I am sure most of you have heard of this fucktard Jesse MacBeth.

Over ALL the information gathered about this poser This is what I find the most fascinating. Sweetness & Light's search of the Arizona Criminal records reveals that he has a LONG criminal record.

He also has a warrant out for his arrest for assault and violation of a protection order in Washington.

Jesse Adam Macbeth was born JESSE ADAM AL-ZAID

And while your at it, you can see how this fucker thinks by reading his myspace. I wish "spell check" was a baseball so I could beat him with it.

At ArmyRanger.com they really nail this guy. Every detail that was wrong was exposed.

Vinyl isn't Dead.

NEAT-O. New record player from Japan. H/T: Toms Hardware.

Japan-based ELP Corporation has released the LT-1LRC laser turntable which uses not one, not two, but five lasers to read the pits and grooves on records. Record collectors shouldn't have to worry about any damage because the lasers harmlessly bounce off the pits and grooves of the record - something that can't be said for the traditional record needle.

Three models are offered for LPs, 45 RPM and 78 RPM records with prices starting at $15,000

Blogging is...

Blogging is Plagiarism according to PlagiarismToday.

Funny, I thought Plagiarism was passing someone elses work off as one's own. Not lifting segments and fisking them with numerous links back to the source of the information?

And since he hates blockquotes:

The Investor Relations Web Report calls it "the new plagiarism". Dan Zarella from Puritan City call those who engage in it "the best plagiarists". Others simply call them bloggers or, as Zarella also put it, "Human Aggregators".

They"’re a new breed of content users that walk a gray area between that which is clearly fair use and what is obviously content theft. Their blogs are marked with large swaths of block quotes and heavy content reuse, but also proper attribution and at least some original content.

And since I am not a talented writer I'll post the "Fair Use Notice" that appears on this blog.

Mexico Works to Bar Non-Natives From Jobs

In Mexico, non-natives are banned from those and thousands of other jobs, even if they are legal, naturalized citizens.

Foreign-born Mexicans can't hold seats in either house of the congress. They're also banned from state legislatures, the Supreme Court and all governorships. Many states ban foreign-born Mexicans from spots on town councils. And Mexico's Constitution reserves almost all federal posts, and any position in the military and merchant marine, for "native-born Mexicans."

The foreign-born make up just 0.5 percent of Mexico's 105 million people, compared with about 13 percent in the United States, which has a total population of 299 million. Mexico grants citizenship to about 3,000 people a year, compared to the U.S. average of almost a half million.

Hypocritical Mexico. Then I saw this.

Roughly 10 percent of Mexico's population of about 107 million is now living in the United States, estimates show. About 15 percent of Mexico's labor force is working in the United States. One in every 7 Mexican workers migrates to the United States.

Even Rush said it.

Here are the responses to Bush's amnesty putting National Guard on the boarder.

Lucy Baxley: Democrat, even though it doesn't list that ANYWHERE on her or supporters sites.

Bob Riley: Least evil. Least entertaining. This state has been stagnate under his "leadership." Hell, at least Baxley would take us somewhere, even though it will be down the tube.

Chip Hill (spokesman for Don Siegelman): Isn't Siegelman in jail?

Roy Moore: The entire "10 Commandments" argument makes me despise this guy.

Loretta Nall (Libertarian for Governor): I may consider myself a Libertarian, but...
Libertarian Party nominee Loretta Nall said she objects to using the Guard to militarize the border with the peaceful neighbor.

Windows Vista.

I was thumbing through the latest articles on Cnet and came across the hardware requirements for Windows new operation system, Vista.

A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:

  • A modern processor (at least 800MHz).
  • 512 MB of system memory.
  • A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

Well that isn't much worse than XP. But that is just the base version without all the bells and whistles.

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor.
  • 1 GB of system memory.
  • A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero.
  • 128 MB of graphics memory.
  • 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
  • DVD-ROM Drive.
  • Audio output capability.
  • Internet access capability
Sheesh. That means two of my computers are out and the other two are taxed. Mainly because of the graphics memory requirement.

Here is what Microsoft has to say on the graphics memory.

Adequate graphics memory.
  • 64 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor less than 1,310,720 pixels
  • 128 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor at resolutions from 1,310,720 to 2,304,000 pixels
  • 256 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor at resolutions higher than 2,304,000 pixels

1,310,720 is a 1280x1024 monitor. 2,304,000 is a 1920x1200 monitor. It has no listing for dual monitors. I would assume 256mb would be a minimum. Well that kicks my primary machine in the nuts.

The hefty graphic requirement is for the Aero display. It would completely suck if it was as horrible as the basic scheme for XP.

Right click / Properties / Appearance / Windows Classic /Apply

Millions of man hours and millions of dollars of development gone in a mouse click.

I hate eye candy.

Tom's Hardware has a wright up on the hardware requirements. I do like how TM provided no links to the resources they cited. {/sarcasm} THIS was a pain in the hind end to find.

For more information of Vista visit Wikipedia.

Windows Vista will not be released in its final version until late this year and then it is only business editions. The consumer edition will be available mid 2007.

Yankee Group recommends business users steer clear of Vista until 2008. I can assume that home users should avoid it like the plague also. Although, I know of a few businesses that, within the past year, have now started replacing their 95 and 98 systems with XP. So it may be 2010 before alot of people go for this update.

I just may say stick it to Microsoft and go...

I can only say, I hope Ubuntu "Dapper Drake" is as good as I hope it is.

Ideas?

Well it is about to happen. What you ask? My video card is about to die. :(

The machine I'm using was a High School graduation gift and I got the card then. When was that? Sheesh, that was two years ago. Anyway, I got an ASUS 9600xt for $180. It had lots of software that actually worked and came with Half Life 2 & Counter Strike: Source free.

The card is getting unhappy. I could play Farcry at 40+ FPS on high for HOURS. Not it is about 30 fps for maybe an hour before it needs a restart. Same goes for Doom 3 and Grand Theft Auto. The source engine games are a little less demanding. There are no temp problems. I don't think it has ever gotten over 45 degrees Celsius.

Yes, I am limited to AGP. I'd rather spend a few hundred now and get eight more months of use out of this thing rather than spend another $2k updating EVERYTHING! If I update it all it better have a quad core processor, Quad SLI Video Cards with direct X 10, at least 4gb of ram.

My first option is the Geforce 7800GS. They say it is the last great AGP card. They must be for $300.

Being a little less damaging to the wallet is the Radeon X850XT.

Finally is the Radeon X800GTO. It is 60% of the performance of the 7800 but for half the cost.

Any ideas? The x800GTO looks best price wise, but the performance of the 7800 is too great to be ignored. I dunno.

I Wasn't Speeding!

A cop stops a car for traveling faster than the posted speed limit. So he asks the man his name.

"Fred," he replies.

"Fred what?" the officer asks.

"Just Fred," the man responds.

The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the fellow a break and write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name.

The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it.

The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. "Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?"

The man replies, "It's a long story, so stay with me."

"I was born Fred Dingaling. I know -- a funny last name The kids used to tease me all the time. So I stayed to myself, studied hard, and got good grades. When I got older I realized that I wanted to be a physician. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, MD."

"After a while I got bored being a physician, so I decided to go back to school. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS."

"Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD. So now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD.

Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling, MD with VD.

Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Dingaling with VD.

Then the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am just Fred."

The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

Top Gear

Letter of the Day.

Vilmar over at Right Wing Howler has, what appears to be, a letter to Tennessee Senator Bill Frist from a retired boarder patrol agent.

He is an excerpt:

Dear Senator Frist:

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.

#1. Illegal aliens generally do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen. Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying the price.

I encourage you to read the other nine points made in the letter at Vilmar's.

Name that band.

UPDATE:
Since two got close. The band is Stahlhammer.
This is what you hear.

Eisbär, oh eisbär
Kaltes eis, Kaltes eis
Oh eisbär

Ich möchte ein eisbär sein am kalten polar
Dan müßte ich nicht mehr schrein
Alles wär so klar

Eisbären müssen nie weinen

This is what they are saying.

Polar bear, oh polar bear
Cold ice, cold ice
Oh polar bear

I want to be a polar bear in the cold arctic
Than I don't have to scream anymore
Everything would be so clear

Polar bears never have to cry

Dumb huh?
