I'll explain this sometime Friday. Until then if anyone wants to venture a guess.

Update: I think it is about time to finish this post. What you see above is Damn Small Linux (DSL). I extracted the file to a flash drive and managed to boot DSL from inside windows. Its resolution is low (800x600) but it did manage to connect to my router and then to the internet using the windows drivers. So DSL gets an A.

Next is Puppy Linux. Yes, Puppy Linux. The gayest name of any operating system I have ever seen. For 60mb it has all the necessary applications. However the name drags it down to a B

Feather Linux... It works and that is about all I can say. C++

Austrumi is great. Boots from a live CD only and installs in RAM to minimize CD transfer lag. B+

This next one impressed me so I bought a copy. Feather Weight Linux Works great in my laptop and older Compaq desktop. Super fast. More applications than you really need. That also explains the size of 250mb+. A+

I didn't get a chance to run the truck again today. Stupid rain. Maybe tomorrow :/

Have you seen the new dub wheels?

You've seen neon lights and spinning wheels on expensive, tricked-out cars, but Dub Wheels is rolling out their "Pimpstar" wheels that could become a fancy trend in automotive accessories. Powered by a microprocessor and wireless modem, the wheels are covered with color LED lights and can display images, text, digital photos. Dub said.

If you aren't part of the Rapper and basketball player crowd, plan on shelling out more than pocket change for installing LED wheels on you car. The wheels are currently selling for around $12,500 to $19,500 for a set of four.

That is one of the coolest things I have seen.

Here is a video of them in action. (I said they were cool.)

Title of Post.

I got a new toy.

The Losi LST.

Hobby Town in Huntsville went out of business. 30% - 50% off everything in the store.

Retail $699 Out the door at $515 tax and all.

The is my first Nitro Rc car. Losi xxx-nt. Just look at the battle damage.

Yeah, the truck is HUGE and the buggy is small.

Sunday, I'll have some action shots and maybe a video or two.

Sunday update: No luck. My glow rod is bad. Not enough volts to the glow plug. So I have to wait until tomorrow to even start the thing. Then I still have to break it in. :(

Monday Update: It is in the shop. $500 POS!!! I couldn't get it started, the guys at RC Hobbies couldn't get it started, a few of the customers couldn't get it started. %&#$!

Tuesday Update: I got it back this morning and have it semi broken in. Then my starter battery died. It WILL be out and racing this weekend. It needs a few more days of breaking in. Friday expect vids.

Turns out my second favorite band didn't break up after all.

Garbage has been on hiatus since there last album.

Also, Shirley Manson has a solo gig going and a cd coming out soon.

At my house we have been thinking of getting rid of our home phone for Vonage. Why not? You get the same service for $25 a month. HALF what we pay now for telephone service. (Free month to new subscribers)

Well, Slashdot has this story today.

Vonage Puts VoIP 911 Caller on Hold, House Burns Down

That can't be good. It was first seen on their forums.

Loren Veltkamp, a homeowner in Chanhassen, Minnesota, lost his house to a fire last month. When Veltkamp noticed that the fire had started, he immediately called 9-1-1 using Vonage. Unfortunately, Vonage put him on hold, causing a delay in the response from emergency workers.

"I called 911 using Vonage broadband and they put us on hold," Veltkamp said when he was interviewed by ABC channel 5 Eyewitness News Minneapolis/St. Paul. "Unbelievable"‚… your house is burning down, and you're put on hold by Vonage."
By the time fire crews arrived, the fire had become a five-alarm blaze. The house was a total loss, but no one was injured.

I'd be a little mad pissed. You would think one of them might have a cell phone or something handy. But that is just me. Maybe they will have BETTER deals to attract new customers to cover this bad press.

I Didn't Say That.

In the Market.

My paranoia levels have reached new heights in the past few years. More so since starting a blog. (And my crazy f***ing neighbor.) So that got me thinking about home defense shotguns. Yeah there a couple in the house, but one is an early 1900'’s breach loader and the other is an uber-expensive 16-gauge Browning automatic. I remember this was covered extensively in the 49th Carnival of Cordite. (and no COC #52 isn't up yet.) So I started looking at what was said.

Say Uncle has some info here and here. (Pistol Camp)

Ten Ring is also in the pistol camp.

Southpark Pundit is a pistol/shotgun guy.

Toys in the Attic is whatever he finds.

Xavier prefers shouguns. He also has a little test.

I am looking for something in the 12 gauge camp. I have a few picked out which I'll go over shortly. I know Cheaper Than Dirt and Cabelas have tons of options for shotguns, including tactical lights, adjustable stocks, bandoleers, grips, and a lot more stuff.

My choices are... (i'd have pictures but blogger will not cooperate.)

Mossberg 500 Persuader

It is listed at $366, but locally it can be had for $287.

Charles Daly Field Tactical
Hey, it's $185 (Nickel for $203)

Norinco Model 982
It is a pound heavier for $234.

Norinco Model 981
Doesn't have the ghost sights for the same price.

Maverick Arms Model 88

Second cheapest.

Winchester 1300
High capacity for a stock shotgun

Remington 870 Express
Tons of options available.

Just what do you look for in a home defense shotgun? I know I want a shorter barrel in the 18''’ to 20'' zone and a lighter weight 6-7 pounds. That turns out to be every gun on this list.

The Mossberg, Remington, Winchester, Maverick, and Norinco have the most aftermarket options. And one would assume they would have the most readily available parts.

Also, AnarchAngel has something new on pistol grips and stocks.

I may know some things about firearms but other than those few thing I'm a moron. I need help and suggestions.

Update: I guess I'm looking for recommendations. What has been your choice in this arena?

Musik for all.

Are They Crazy?

Teen arrested after showing handguns on blog

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after postings on the popular Web site allegedly showed him holding handguns, authorities said.

School spokesman Rick Kaufman said parents were calling with concerns and some kept their children home after photographs posted on the boy'’s profile on

“The photos were very disturbing, and while the content was not a direct threat, we just felt it was important for us to take appropriate disciplinary action,” Kaufman said, adding the student could be expelled.

Hell, just for that I'll post a photo of Milla Jovovich holding a couple of MP5's.

Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'

There is a great quote in this story.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.

Wait for it.

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."

Federal and state investigators are working to determine the cow's age, where it was born and raised and locate its herdmates and offspring. Sparks said there are no suspect animals on the farm.

What a Dumb Idea.

Yesterday, I was testing a new DVD decoder. My picture of choice, was my all time favorite, Jurassic Park. (Just look at the background.) The DVD was released in 2000 when DVD's were new. Anyway, when autoplay kicked in it wanted to install all kinds of software and programs.

I was going somewhere with this.

Well, if you want the Jurassic Park browser click the download file link. Several of the links pre-programmed into the browser didn't work. Most of the sites no longer existed. That got me thinking. (Scary thought I know. Shaddup!) What is the oldest site on the net? Google says the oldest site is a tractor auction site. Then I started thinking Jurassic Park again. The Lost World had a flash based site in 1997. That is the oldest I can remember. We didn't have internet before that.

What are some of the sites you know about?

I Have a Problem.

*Commence Techno Babel*

It isn'’t a problem, but more of a curiosity that happens to be driving me NUTS! I have this old Compaq Presario 2286. One of the very last that had the Cyrix processors before they made the jump to the Intel chips. The specifications on this thing are as follows:

Cyrix 6x86 processor @ 250mhz. (The fastest ever produced.)
64mb of pc133 ram
12gb 5400rpm WD hard drive
Voodoo 3 16mb video card
(Yes, I am aware of the Cyrix bug.)

Some of the sources for that processor rate it as 333mhz. This isn'’t true. 333mhz was a equivalence rating. Like AMD chips with their ##00'’s series. All the numbers are the Intel equivalents.

It was originally a windows 98 machine and it didn'’t really run that. I have resurrected the thing because I found a Linux Distro called Damn Small Linux. The operating system is 50mb in size. It is designed to run FAST on older hardware. The hardware works fine. It will run windows xp sp2 with a CPU load hovering just above 98% at idle. Ubuntu runs a lot better (CPU at idle is 15%) but it will not reboot for beans. I have a feeling it has something to do with the video card.

Anyway, my problem isn't booting the kernel, but more along the lines of setting the thing up as a slave. Giving control to another computer to use it for mindless tasks or something? The main reason I want to do this is to see if I can and the second is to have a working, useable computer that I don't have to hook up a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to actually use it.

Then I tune back in to reality and realize this is a fairly impossible task.

Does anyone have any ideas? Spring Break is coming up and I need something to do while everyone else goes to the beach.

Makes certain operators of interactive computer services and Internet service providers liable to persons injured by false or defamatory messages posted on public forum websites.

Did you get that? If someone hurts your feelings on a public web site you should be ablte to hold someone liable for that action.

This bill would require an operator of any interactive computer service or an Internet service provider to establish, maintain and enforce a policy requiring an information content provider who posts messages on a public forum website either to be identified by legal name and address or to register a legal name and address with the operator or provider prior to posting messages on a public forum website.

The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying
it as well.

Bonus Question:

Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you
will go to Hell.

Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand
proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, " it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you, and take into account the fact that I slept with her last
night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.

The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."
